Wake the F Up

Mose Giganticus: Joe Smiley and Matt Garfield

Lank and I had the pleasure of sitting down with the guys at Mose Giganticus and thier photographer/director. We talked about the evolution of this band and how it worked its way down to a duo. This was also Lanks last Podcast.

Mose Giganticus is an evolving body of music, art, and technology led by Matt Garfield. Since 2007, Garfield has performed hundreds of live shows as Mose Giganticus across North America and Europe, backed by a revolving cast of touring musicians up to 30 members deep. Mose Giganticus achieved notoriety with the release of Gift Horse on Relapse Records in 2010, following an extensive U.S./Canadian tour fueled by recycled waste vegetable oil for Garfield's custom-built tour bus. Through the years, Mose Giganticus has performed with such varied artists as Russian Circles, Screaming Females, Corrosion of Conformity, The Emotron, Tim Fite, Math the Band, Tub Ring, and Black Tusk.

Though the touring line-up has shuffled, Joe Smiley has been a consistent contributor to Mose Giganticus from the start- both in the studio and on the stage. Smiley's talents have been featured on every recording as guitarist, recording engineer, or both.

As a multi-instrumentalist duo, Garfield and Smiley layer their live performances with custom interactive electronics and lighting to build a cohesive show designed to seem beyond their capacity.

Deep Freeze at Cryo Philadelphia- My first frost!

C.R.Y.O. Philadelphia provides therapeutic recovery services for athletes and active adults, as well as health and wellness benefits to the general public.

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) is a revolutionary method of cold therapy involving 3 minutes of exposure to subzero temperatures ranging from -200 F to -250͖ F. During the three minute treatment, the exposure to subzero temperatures causes the skin’s cold receptors to stimulate the nervous system. The body perceives this sudden and extreme cold to be a life-threatening situation and activates a chain of powerful survival mechanisms involving the body’s most crucial systems. Vasoconstriction occurs and blood is redirected from the peripheral tissue to preserve the vital organs and maintain core temperature. When one re-enters a room-temperature environment, the blood immediately rushes back to the skin, blood circulation is naturally stimulated, and oxygenated blood is delivered back to the damaged tissue. As a result, any blood with inflammatory properties gets treated and relief from pain and discomfort begins.

This was absolutly amazing. I wasn't sore from my back to back workouts. Cryo also improved my mood. I can't wait to go back! .

Cannabis Chef-Cindy Ruggiero

This was a very educational podcast. Canna-Chef Cindy came by The House to educate me on decarboxylating my cannabis and turning it into oil or a butter. Decarboxylating is a method in which you transform compounds called cannabinoid acids into a form that is readily usable by the body via heat. In this case Cindy brought over a few grams, placed them in a mason jar covered with tin foil and placed upsidedown on a baking sheet for an hr at 190. The result was very tasty, but I like the taste of cannabis. So to help people enjoy edibles, Chef Cindy teaches them how to be culinary scietists at home with cannabis. She will be at the New Hampshire Cannabis Festival Aug 25th . For more info please see below.

MedicateMe owner’s and operator’s Josh & Nick- medication management application

What a great podcast. Josh and Nick have created something incredible and beautiful. If you recall last year on #CannabisIsMedicineTestimonies I was encouraging patients around the world who use cannabis to treat their ailments, to record the day to diet, activitiy and meds used/dosage. But that is not convenient, and now it will be

After the Podcast Josh and Nick offered me a position on the team as Marketing and Social Media relations. I am honored to start the correct path I've been looking for. We are putting patients needs first.

Dan Gross Elevated Nation

What a great time I had speaking with Dan Gross from Gross Communications and Elevated Nation digital magazine. We touched on how news is delivered and received, fake news to the politics of cannabis rights. I hope to work more with Dan in the future. Congratulations to him on his accomplishments. Maybe one day we will have a bass duel or cover "Big Bottom" by Spinal Tap.

Dan spent nearly a decade as a columnist at the Philadelphia Daily News, breaking local and national entertainment and news stories.

He also worked for five years as President of Communications Workers of America Local 38010 (The Newspaper Guild). There Dan was responsible for crafting and implementing the union’s communications with members and local and national media during several years of high-profile sales and transition at the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. Dan served as a member of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Philadelphia Media Holdings Bankruptcy as well as a trustee on the union’s health and welfare and pension plans.

Dan, a graduate of Temple University, has written for Rolling Stone, Anthem and Philadelphia magazine.

#CannabisIsMedicineTestimonies 10-Alex AKA Doc.Rockso_ Stage 4 Crohn’s Disease

I had a great time with Alex. I learned somethng new from him. He also has lung cancer. Alex was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when he was in the late Stage 3. The pills were not helping. Cannabis concentrates are now allowing him to live a somewhat "normal" life. This is Alex's testimony

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by inflammation of the digestive, or gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In fact, Crohn’s can affect any part of the GI tract, from the mouth to the anus, but it is more commonly found at the end of the small intestine (the ileum) where it joins the beginning of the large intestine (or colon). It can also affect: Eyes, Skin and Joints.

  • About 67% of people in remission will have at least 1 relapse over the next 5 years
  • 700,000 people in the United States are affected by Crohn's

Bong-In-A-Jar owner operator-RECK

Another fun Walkabout cast with Philly native Reck, owner and operator of Bong-In-A-Jar.

Reck was sick and tired of breaking expensive glass pieces. One night he broke a $200 piece and that was the last straw. Like most cannabis users it turns use into a sort of Macguyver..

The shaft and mouth piece are made highly durable PLA-Poly(lactic acid) or polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable and bioactive thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the United States and Canada), tapioca roots, chips or starch (mostly in Asia), or sugarcane (in the rest of the world). In 2010, PLA had the second highest consumption volume of any bioplastic of the world.

#CannabisIsMedicineTestimonies 9-Dani Geen of Harborside Health Center-

A message from Executive Director of Harborside Health Center-Steve DeAngelo

As medical cannabis patients, we have all had to endure the fear and stigma imposed upon us by nearly seventy years of cannabis prohibition. Despite the recent legalization of medical cannabis in California and other states, the fear and stigma persist. Harborside Health Center is dedicated to healing the pain that stems from these destructive attitudes and feelings by providing a sensible alternative to the hysteria surrounding cannabis and by honoring you as a progressive and courageous force of change. We believe one way we may do that is to be conscious and respectful in all our interactions with our neighbors.

Harborside Health Center believes each patient acts as an ambassador for the entire medical cannabis community. We want our fellow patients to feel cared for, to be recognized as important members of society, and to leave our facility inspired to be positive ambassadors for medical cannabis. Society is watching all of us to determine if medical cannabis is safe and sensible. If we dedicate ourselves to being such positive ambassadors for medical cannabis, our communities will begin to embrace us instead of being suspicious of us. The perception of medical cannabis will then be transformed, and the stigma associated with it will be eliminated.

Harborside Health Center sees this as the key for achieving safe and legal access to medical cannabis for all suffering and sick Americans. We invite you to join us in building a kinder and more compassionate world, and thank you for your efforts.
